Nautilus3D is a Default 3D Resource-pack, mainly focused on 3D Models with a vanilla style.
We aim to provide a highly polished pack with an emphasis on decorative blocks, strong optimization, and various little fixes.
Feel free to leave bug-reports & feature suggestions our GitHub issue-page!
We highly recommend using Fabric (+ Sodium & Iris) since it is the defacto standard nowadays. OptiFine & Forge should work aswell, but you might run into issues with OptiFine since it has become somewhat outdated in recent years.
Some features (like the Trident) require OptiFine to work as intended.
For Fabric you can use these alternatives:
- EMF and ETF for custom entity-models
- CIT-Resewn for custom item-textures
- Continuity for connected-textures.
Nautilus3D is taking extensive use of Respackopts, a mod that allows for custom Resoucrepack options and configs.
We used to make separate editions of the pack for Minecraft 1.8 - 1.12 up until Nautilus3D V1.8
If you still play on Minecraft 1.8 - 1.12 you can find older Nautilus3D versions in the GitHub Release Archive folder.
The only thing really impacting the in-game performance are our fancy leaves and their variations. We tried our best to make them as fast as possible, while not compromising on their variety.
If you're on Fabric/Sodium, we recommend using the "Cull Less Leaves" mod to get back a bit of performance. If you wish to disable the leaves, you can do so using Respackopts!
I'ts been a high priority for us to make Nautilus3D play nice with the vast majority of shaders out there. That's also why we don't include any fancy flower / vegetation models, because that would look horrible combined with wind effects. (Also, it's really hard to make lol)
Additonally, due to Minecrafts dodgy ambient occlusion and complete lack of Anti-Aliasing, even basic shaders would make a great difference.
This is especially visible on bushy leaves.
Our recommendations:
- Sildurs Basic / Enhanced Default
- Builder's QOL
- Complementary Reimagined
- Make-Up - Ultrafast
- SEUS Renewed
- Chocapic V8 / V9
Other shaders will work aswell ofcourse, these are just my personal favourites :P
All these are in-game screenshots with colour-grading and a lens blur added in Photoshop

I applied some tweakes to the chest textues. I think they look a lot better now. Redstone chests are now harder to distinguish from normal chests, just like they are in vanilla

The chest model is now also compatible with BBE, that results in huge performance improvements:

(The same thing also applies to bells)
In Minecraft version 26.2, signs and hanging signs are being rendered as normal block models, instead of block entities like before.
I migrated the Nautilus3D sign textures to the new format that is used in 26.2 and onwards. They are not backwards compatible.
The hanging signs however will require quite a bit more work, since i have to essentially remake them from scratch, so they are not included yet in this release. Nautilus3D 26.2 still ships with the old CEM model tough.
From now on, Nautilus3D will use the same version number as Minecraft itself. But despite being called "26.2", it is still also compatible with 26.1.2 for the most part. The exact compatibility will always be defined in the pack.mcmeta file (the game will scream at you if the pack is really not compatible).

Nautilus 3D cracked the 1 Million downloads mark just recently🥳 thank you so much everyone!
Due to some directory changes in vanilla minecraft, and some changes to EMF / ETF, the trident is not backwards-compatible anymore. This release is therefore only compatible with Minecraft 26.1 and newer.
Please make sure you use the latest releases of EMF / ETF to avoid any issues.

When renaming the mace to "Mjölnir", it will show a special model.

But be careful! Mjölnir can only be handled by those who are worthy :D
Item-models for the mace, spyglass, trident and lanterns are now displaying correctly in 1.21.11.
Due to the way newer Minecraft versions handle texture loading, some texture directories have changed. Lots of model files had to be updated to use the new file paths.
As always, if you encounter missing textures, or any other bugs, feel free to report it on our GitHub!
This change also helps future development, and ensures better compatibility with other resource packs and mods.
Some parts of the lantern item-models are not rendering properly in 26.1 snapshot 4. As of right now I have no idea why that is.
The inside of the ender chest is currently broken and only displays a black texture.
I don't have the slightes clue why that is the case since it worked just fine in the previous release of EMF / ETF.

Diagonal Rails are now an optional part of Nautilus3D. Thanks to Toria for the suggestion! (#47)

Respackopts is required to toggle between curved and diagoal rail corners. By default, it will show curved corners.

There are now options for Vegetation, and Fences:

(closes #55 and #57)
I've added and fixed some of the new vegetation blocks:

Note for EMF users:
The inside of the ender chest is currently broken and only displays a black texture.
I don't have the slightest clue why that is the case since it worked just fine in the previous release of EMF / ETF.

I had to add a workaround to make sure chests are displayed correctly in an inventory slot or when held in the players hand.

This workaround is very janky and will probably break when the games tries to apply the christmas textures.
The only reason for this is because EMF / ETF tends to break every other version or so without documenting it's changes.
I added proper textures for all the copper chest variants

Nautilus3D now comes with a load of new settings to customize features that may conflict with other packs.
Customize them to your liking using Respackopts. If you feel like something is missing, please let me know by opening an issue on GitHub!

Mushrooms & Fungii finally have full 3D models. They come in a few different variants, and sometimes have a little sibling next to them :)

The skull on the spawner now has some slightly glowing eyes

Some ores now have a slight glow to them. This doesn't require any mods, as it uses a new vanilla parameter introduced in 1.21.2!
These include Lapis, Gold, Gilded Blackstone, Diamonds, Emeralds, and a few other blocks like the brewing stand, note blocks and the furnaces.
Nautilus3D is now using the old model format for the chests again, since the new format doesn't yet work in EMF. This means OptiFine will fall back to the vanilla double chest.
I had to remove the transparency fix used for the bell that was based on core shaders. According to changelog 25w16, that is not an intended usecase for resource packs, even though it is technically possible. I had to temporarily remove the shader file because it causes a crash in 25w16 and newer. The changelog also states that they plan to revamp the core shaders and provide proper features for resource packs.
Right now this only affects the bell in Nautilus3D:
You can fix it by using a shader pack like complementary:

You can find older versions in the Release Archive folder
This is also the first offical release on Modrinth!
Moving forward, we will use it as our primary host.
