A vanilla core "fabulous" shader that emulates the VHS/VCR found footage style seen in media such as the Kane Pixels backrooms series. Works on any version 1.17+, and as of now is considered feature complete.

About

A simple little shader using a myriad of little effects to create a halfway decent VHS look. Perfect if you're trying to make a "found footage" video in minecraft. This is a CORE shader and WILL NOT WORK with optifine/iris. Should work perfectly on all versions 1.17+ (any version of minecraft with "fabulous" graphics).

Will likely not be updated as I consider it to be feature complete. May update to fix possible bugs for newer versions of minecraft.

  • Color Correction: Colors are tinted towards yellow, giving an eerie vibe (version without tint can be found in zip)

  • Downsampling: Shader combines pixels together to lower resolution

  • Color Quantization: Compresses similar shades of color together, creating a lossy, jpeg-like effect similar to old camcorders
